Last weekend we took another trip to
Jordan Lake in
Apex, NC for a short
camping weekend. It ended up being a lot shorter than we would’ve liked due to the terrible rain we got last weekend (although it was pretty good for my garden – so I cannot complain).
It’s so beautiful there. It only takes an hour to completely wipe the "stress slate" clean. Sitting in the sun for hours, throwing my
fishing line in the water and watching the waves come in is what I consider perfection! And
Jordan Lake, just miles from our home in
Braxton Village (
Holly Springs), doesn’t disappoint.
Last year for my one-year wedding anniversary we spent a weekend at
Poplar Point on the lake. That’s just one of the many
camping areas designated at
Jordan Lake. So far it’s our favorite – so we w

ent back. We had our own personal beach, so we plopped our old chairs in the sand, tied up the dog & threw our fishing line with mangled nightcrawlers in the water to feed the small perch and crappies that were biting all day. We didn’t catch anything close to large, but again we were
fishing from shore.
Then, about mid afternoon
Bud & Beth McKinney popped by in their boat
(pictured upper left) to take us for a ride. It was a great day & an even better night. I
(pictured lower right) slept like a baby, and the rain held off until we were packed up and heading home the night morning. We will definitely make another trip to Jordan Lake before the end of the
camping season – perhaps a little later in the season though so my husband Brian
(pictured upper right) can sleep at night (August is a little bit muggy here in
North Carolina).
