July 3, 2009 – it’s a beautiful 80+ degree day in Cary, NC and I am heading home for a few minutes. This is a very special day for me because 39 years ago I gave birth to our son, Rob, who wanted to be a little firecracker. He was 3 months early and only weighed 1 lb 12 oz. A miracle child at that. Today he has two beautiful daughters of his own and a lovely wife in St. John, Indiana.
The day became so very special. As I drove down Summerwinds Drive, there were four adorable young girls selling lemonade along with their babysitter, and the proceeds were to go to a charity. These precious ladies were selling lemonade to help the Kids at Duke Hospital.
When I stopped to say hello, they shared that they had gone to the Duke Children’s Hospital the day before and they wanted to do something good for the children there. I shared that I am a RE/MAX agent and that our Cary RE/MAX UNITED is a miracle office which means every agent gives something out of each sale to help the kids at Duke Hospital. During the past four years our office has raised over $80,000 for the kids between donations and golf tournaments.
The girls were excited, but I truly was the excited one. Children spending their summer time helping other children. It touched me and I hope it touches you. Beautiful, giving children !!
